THIRTEEN HINTS TO GET YOU STARTED: Playing as Jill Valentine 1) After Barry discovers blood on the dining room floor, take the brown shield from the fireplace mantel and add it to your inventory. Don't forget to arm yourself with the pistol. 2) Exit the dining room door on the right and go immediately to the left. Kill the zombie or lead him back out to the dining room. If you kill the zombie, go to Kenneth's chewed up body and "look" at him three times. The first look will get you a brief description of Kenneth's death. The next two looks will reward you with an ammo clip each time. If you lead the zombie out, you will be treated to a cool cinema sequence - after the sequence go back at look at Kenneth for the clips. 3) Leave the dining room and you'll get the lock pick from Barry Burton. Go to the Blue Doors on the right and enter. Once inside, go through the brown door on the right. Walk the hall. After killing the second dog, push the center exhibit case to the left and collect an ammo clip. Go through the door at the end of the hall. 4) In the next room, take the plant immediately to the right and then run down the hall until you get to the area with wooden doors on the left and on the right. Choose the door on the right and enter. Once inside go to the far door and enter the adjoining room. 5) Take the rifle off the far wall and exit the room. The ceiling in the white tile room will start to close in on you. Hang on! Stay put! Barry will save you from becoming a "gerbil sandwich." 6) Now, go back the way you came until you reach the front hall again. Take the stairs up and to the right. Once upstairs, go to the door on the far right and enter. You should be in a room with a blood smear on the wall and blood spots on the rug. Enter the door at the far end, which leads to the balcony. 7) On the balcony, you'll see Bravo team member Kevin, who has been pecked to death. Quickly take his grenade launcher and run like hell before you end up like Tippi Hedren in THE BIRDS. 8) Go back to the staircase landing and back into the dining room on the bottom left. 9) Go back through the door on the right in the living room. Once through the door, take a right and go to the Red Door. You should be able to pick its lock now. Enter. 10) The Red Door leads to the music room. Go around the piano and push the shelf unit to the right. Another bookcase will give you the sheet music. Go to the piano and play the music. After a few moments, a secret panel will open. Go through the secret door. 11) Behind the secret door, you will find a statue of a woman. In the base is a gold shield. Switch the gold shield for the brown shield in your inventory. Once you have done that return to the dining room. 12) Back in the dining room, place the gold shield in the spot where you found the brown shield. When you have done that, you will find that the grandfather clock will slide to the left to reveal an opening. Go to the opening and take the Red Key from out of the wall. Now you have the key that will let you into the Giant Snake's lair. 13) Leave the dining room and return to the front hall. By the stairwell, you'll find a typewriter and your first ink ribbon. Use the ink ribbon to save your game at this point. Now you are heavily armed and ready to take on the children of the night and explore the immense mansion. Good luck, Alpha Team! Here is an amusing tip I discovered while playing Resident Evil on Sony Playstation. This is for much later in the game, when there are terrible gargoyles running around the house, instead of those wimpy zombies. At the top of the staircase next to the storage room in the east wing of the house there are two gargoyles: one that's mid hallway and the other lurks around the corner next to the door with a broken doorknob. Shoot the mid-hallway gargoyle first so he is out of your way, then go to the other gargoyle and shoot at him once to flush him out. Quickly run to the staircase (if you can make it that far) and descend the first flight of stairs. The gargoyle will stand at the top and throw a tantrum because he can't come down, but you can still blow the sucker away!these should help you along!!
