King's Field FAQ

KING'S FIELD FAQ

As I have not yet finished the game, I can not give away too many secrets but I'll do my best.

GENERAL

The playstation version of King's Field is actually King's Field 2. Apparently, the original was not
very good, so they decided not to release it over here. There have also been rumours that it takes
up 15 blocks on a memory card, as far as I can tell, these are false allegations. I'm pretty far, but it
only takes up 2 slots.

BASICS:

Fighting: Sidestep around the creatures and attack, sidestep attack etc.. Or use magic to stun, then
slash, magic, slash.

Secrets: Search all walls and all nooks and crannies.

General: Go up as many levels as you can at the beginning in order to be able to cruise through the
game. Don't sell crystals!! Trade em' for crystal flasks. Sell all crystal shards. When there's a
trap, there are two ways to get around them. Look for Levers or heal yourself and charge through
the traps.

MONSTERS

Kraken: Octupus type creaure. Sidestep around and whack it.
Queen or King: Hides inside cave near the beginning. Watch out!
Ghosts: Usually cast as slow spell on you. Run around them if you want.
Plants: Do major damage early on, play it safe.
Small Plants: Smaller, faster versions of regular plants.
Soldiers:
Archers: Kill them fast before you die!!
Spear wielding: Play it safe because they do major damage!
Dinos: If you're on a high enough level, you'll breeze past them.
Huge dino in Necron's coliseum: One of the more difficult bosses.
Insects: They fly, so chop em' down to size.
Termites: Weak little suckers.

Pink soldiers: Use the normal magic/ slash strategy.

from: http://apollo.ahabs.wisc.edu/individuals/students/hahn/psxkf.html)

FIRE

Fire Ball: You can find this on the lighthouse on the
west side. A pretty basic spell, use it on weaker
enemies to gain magic levels.

Fire Wall: This is near the lighthouse on the east
seaside. This is a great spell to use against slow
enemies or ice elementals...it hit's multiple times.

Fire Storm: In the fire caves, there is a room with
four lamps. Simply cast the fire spell to light the
lamps, and a crystal will fall from the sky.

Flame: Near Necron's coliseum, there's is a bridge
that leads you over lava, jump down onto a platform
to get this spell, but make sure you've got a stargate
to get you out of there. Excellent Spell.

WIND

Wind cutter: go north of the start point, across the
bridge near the water fall. Simple magis like the fire
ball.

Missile Shield: Southwest corner of Harvine's castle.Very useful spell to use against archers, and
when you're on the mine cart.

Ice Storm: Royal treasure house, use the Harvine's Key.You will need Harvine's flute to get the
crystal. Pretty good spell.

In Harvine's castle...there's a portrait. Don't press x, attack the picture to reveal a sealed
compartment. Haven't yet got this spell so can't comment.

EARTH

Earth heal: Found in small mine, in a chest. Very good healing spell at the beginning.

Stone: Leading to the north village, fall down off of the ladder. Open the chest to reveal crystal.
Powerful spell.

Earth Wave: In the termites nest. After killing the queen she'll give it to you. Not bad at all.

Meteor: Haven't got it yet...Supposedly in earth caves after you beat earth elemental.

Water:

Dispoison: Drop down the hole in the termite's nest to get it, but make sure you've got star gate.
Cure's poison, enuff said.

Resist Fire: Behind waterfall. Good spell for fire caves and the mine cart rides.

Water fall: In elf graveyard...Cool looking, and pretty powerful too.

Seath: Don't have it...Supposed to be in the elf shrine .

LIGHT

Light: Secret room in underworld prison no.2. Helps you see better.

Breath: Get it from Fai.

Lightning Volt: On mine cart ride, get off when you see the treasure chest. I love this spell...kills a lot
of enemies in one shot...Looks like a nuclear blast.

Flash: Search around necron's coliseum to find this spell. One of my favourite spells, hits multiple
times.

WEAPONS: I'll only write the ones that I found myself, because finding them is a part of the game. I
have yet to find them all. So I'll give you hints...

Flame Sword: Hidden door in the fire caves. Good sword against ice and water.

Shiden: Take a leap of faith after climbing many stairs. Samurai sword...How can you not like it??

Ice Blade: Kill a boss. Guess which one.

ARMOUR: Since you're going to have to work to find the swords, I'll give you these.

Blood Crown

On the way to the fire caves from Base No. 4, you have to cross a wind bridge. Drop into the pit.

Lightning Helm

In Galth Fee's grave room there's a secret door. Press the X button as you move through the room
behind the door to pick up the helmet. Got this from site listed above.

Ice Armour

Find it in the ice caves

Dark Armour

Found in the dark cave.

Moon Guard

Buy it.

Crystal Guard

Found in the ice caves.

Skull Shield

Found in Galth Fee's room. Search his grave.

Seath's Shield

Found in the sealed room near Cliff's house.

Demon's Hands

Found in the poisonous area, near Necron's coliseum.

Ruinous Gloves

Haven't found em' yet.

Ruinous Boots

Slash at the merchant to make him move enough for you to snag em'. You'll know who I'm talking
about.

MORE STRATEGIES:

To kill the big Kraken, use this combo. Shoot some magic to stun him, slash at him then run back.
Repeat this.

Near Necron's coliseum, you'll have to face many enemies. Make sure that you're on a high enough
level and that you've got good magic powers and a bunch of dragon crystals. Use the corresponding
spells....Fire for the ice elemental and water for the fire creature. I still haven't defeated Necron, any
tips??

Talk to all the townspeople every time that you do something new, they will always give great
advice.

Fill your crystal flasks before going into battle!!

When crossing bridges, always look down for platforms.

Always have working stargates, and never enter a room with a rhombus key unless you've got
another one.

And finally, don't ever just run past monsters, give em' what they deserve!!
